Mental health, what is mental health, one may ask?
Mental health is a broad term to categorize a series of changes that constitute the physical, emotional and social well-being of a person. While being joyful and enthusiastic depicts a large proportion of ones personality, that is not what being mentally fit is.
To be mentally fit and be in control of ones actions, thoughts and behavior, it is essential that we are in charge of our mental health.
Sometimes there are incidents out of ones control that can disturb the mental status of a healthy being, but nevertheless, it is not something that cannot be taken care of.
The human mind is of a rather intriguing nature, it yearns to hide the things that need the most attention. Yes, talking about ones feelings and emotions can be difficult for one but at the end of the day, that is what the mind needs.
Lets take a simple example, to improve yourself in a particular sport, you have to keep practicing over and over again, no matter how much your body wants restrain or how difficult it may be, that is the only way to come to near perfection. Similarly, talking about mental illnesses can be difficult for some but the only way to be remain mentally and constitutionally fit, is by training your mind to do so. By telling your mind repeatedly, that whatsoever disturbed your mental peace, is nothing to be ashamed of, rather something to embrace.
While the best way to remain mentally healthy is by talking about the things that disturb the homeostasis, other exercises like practicing meditation for as less as even 5 minutes a day or deep breathing exercises for calmness and tranquility can be very helpful.
Unlike other sports, being healthy mentally is not something that can be perfected through practice, but if you assure to keep up with your social and physical health, you can come pretty darn close.
