What mental health means to me- Diya Hosangdy

To me, mental health refers to the complex web of feelings, ideas, and psychological wellness that weaves together our everyday existence. It is a crucial component of our existence, affecting how we view the world, communicate with others, and overcome obstacles. Beyond its medical context, mental health illuminates the importance of self-awareness, balance, and self-care by reflecting the vibrancy of our inner world.

An important but sometimes disregarded component of overall wellness is emotional well-being. It's about recognising, controlling, and constructively expressing our emotions. This aspect of wellbeing is extremely important since it has a direct impact on our attitudes, actions, and interpersonal interactions.

Academic stress, a common aspect of contemporary life, is woven into the mental health fabric. I know first-hand how difficult it may be to balance deadlines, achieve academic success, and satisfy academic standards. These pressures can have a negative impact on mental health, leading to worry, self-doubt, and even burnout. Exams, assignments, and other obligations might feel overwhelming at times, endangering not just our academic performance but also our emotional equilibrium.

Understanding the complex relationship between academic stress and mental health emphasises how crucial it is to deal with both issues early on. Academic demands can be lessened by adopting measures like time management, getting academic support, and engaging in mindfulness exercises. Additionally, supporting open discussions about mental health in school settings may develop a supportive environment that encourages students to get assistance when they need it without worrying about being judged.

My definition of mental health includes developing emotional intelligence, being resilient in the face of difficulties, and getting help when necessary. It's about realising that, like our bodies, our brains too need care and attention.

By prioritizing emotional well-being, we invest in our own mental health and set the foundation for a more fulfilling and balanced life. It involves appreciating the worth of our emotional experiences and taking action to make sure they enhance our general wellbeing.
