What Mental Health means to me: Anaya Thakkar

Mental health to me is a very simple term. It just means psychological peace and happiness. If I am in a phase of my life where I am mentally fit and healthy, I will have the power and energy to deal with whatever obstacles Im facing. To me it symbolises my well being, physically and mentally. I always prioritise my mental health over my physical health. According to me, being mentally strong is what gets you through life, and how it is way more important than being physically strong. Maintaining constant good mental health is an extremely strong task, but thats what makes us stronger as humans too.

I have been a part of the Jamnabai Adolescent Mentor (JAM) Program, a student body in my school, which centres its goal around mental well being, for 2 years. Being a part of it for so long, I learnt how to really prioritise myself and my psychological needs and also how to help others do the same.

My experience with mental health has been quite a journey, theyre were many highs and a couple of lows as well. But one thing I have learnt from all these experiences is that the lower the point you reach in your mental journey if you're struggling with something, the higher and stronger you will rise back up.
