The mental health of students is a crucial aspect of their overall well-being and academic success. It encompasses a range of factors including emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
The most important thing to remember is that every single student is going through something. We should never demean someone's problems thinking that they don’t matter. Neglecting your anxiety or stress forces you into a state where you do anything but study to try to escape. It feels like a threat at times which causes us to opt for coping mechanisms which many a times are dangerous from screen addiction to using of substances. When we find ourselves in this situation the first thing we should to is get more active do things that keep us on your toes- either workout or dance or cycle anything which can calm our mind and keep it active. There are times where our mind goes into a hyper state like when we have panic attacks that’s when you have to do activities to stabilise yourself like going for a walk, colouring or listening to music or talking it out.
At the end of the day all students are experiencing similar things and putting more pressure on yourself jeopardises the entire situation. So, when things get bad it’s always better to talk to someone who understands and even considering seeking professional help like going to a therapist.
In conclusion, prioritising mental health in education is not only a moral imperative but also a strategic investment in the well-being and success of students. By recognising the interconnectedness of mental health and academic achievement, schools can create a supportive and inclusive environment where all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. By prioritising mental health, we are not only shaping the future of education but also nurturing the future leaders, innovators, and change makers of tomorrow.
