Mental Health...An Artistic Expression

ree

Mental health can be viewed in various kinds and forms, and an issue regarding mental health can also be cured through different kinds of methods according to each respective individual.

For example, some people like to journal their problems out, some like to exhaust them through sports, while some like to use art to express themselves for sometimes artistic ways are the only path to understand someone when words reach their limit.

There are various kinds of artistic expressions for example painting, dancing, singing, playing an instrument, photography, or just the simple act of listening to music. These people find peace in doing such activities this is their form of therapy. Which is why many therapists in the beginning of their session ask the individual about their interests and what makes them happy according to which they help the person figure out what truly can help cope with anxiety, depression, etc.

The countless, unorganized thoughts running in one’s head can be put in order through just one stroke of a brush, or a chord, song, step all these can be equivalent to several words for that person expressed in just so little, that’s the beauty of art.

On the other hand, if you look at few of the most renowned masterpieces in the world were created by an artist not for the sake of money or fame, but just to express themselves through art which in turn lead their creations to be placed in museums or in music exam books, or as a theme for movies. They gained success through this ‘expression.’

There is nothing wrong with having a different way in showing how you feel every single one is unique but the most important thing is to be able to cope with whatever you’re feeling in a healthy and harmless manner which does not lead to self-harm or addiction or substance abuse. The most crucial thing abouttrying to help yourself and getting your mental health back on track is to do it the right way and when things get terribly overwhelming one must seek help and there is nothing embarrassing about that because when you do get help that person helps you understand what truly works for you as an individual whether it be through art or any other method. At the end of the day, we may feel that one lifetime is not long enough so make the best out of it and do it your way.
